Mr. Johnson has been practicing law since 1991. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Navy and as a police officer for nine years. After graduation from law school, he served on active duty for the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kansas as a JAG officer (military attorney) and later in the U.S. Army Reserves for the 8th Legal Services Organization in Independence, Missouri.
Mr. Johnson also served as the full-time legal instructor for the University of Kansas at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center near Hutchinson, Kansas from 1995 to 1997 teaching all aspects of criminal law to basic and advanced officer schools as well as guest lecturing throughout the state of Kansas. He also served as the city attorney for Goddard, Kansas and spent several years in private practice in the Kansas City metro area where he was a regular presenter of Continuing Legal Education classes in the areas of criminal and constitutional law as well as trial techniques. He served as a pro tem district court judge in the Johnson County District Court (Kansas City metro area). He served on the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panels for the U.S. District Court for the Districts of Kansas and the Western District of Missouri. Mr. Johnson subsequently moved to the Denver, Colorado where he practiced law for a downtown civil litigation firm in the area of insurance defense. He has since resumed private practice, focusing on plaintiff's causes of action primarily in the area of medical malpractice, wrongful death and police misconduct. He also continues to practice in the area of criminal defense.
Mr. Johnson has two sons, ages 29 and 19 and in his spare time enjoys many activities including motorcycling, skiing, flying, traveling, music, hiking, diving, and many other outdoor activities.
